Welcome to the 60th Annual Beef Cattle Short Course

The Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course has a rich tradition and historical place in the programs emanating from the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University. Dating as far back as 1942, Professor John K Riggs started the first in a series of Beef Cattle Short Courses held on the campus of Texas A&M College to discuss the results of beef cattle research from the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station with Texas beef producers. This historical beginning and purpose is still the standard today for the Beef Cattle Short Course held at Texas A&M University. Today the highly respected TAM Beef Cattle Short Course is nationally and internationally recognized as the largest attended beef cattle educational program of its type in the world. It has gained the respect from organizations, associations, Land Grant universities and agencies alike as the focal point for beef cattle educational information. The Cattleman’s College features more than 20 concurrent sessions. Topics include animal health, nutrition, reproduction, breeding, genetics, selection, research, marketing and handling. Management sessions will cover business, forage, range, and purebred cattle. Topics such as landowner issues and fence building will be featured at this BCSC. Sessions are designed for everyone, from the newest member of the industry to the most seasoned producer. A number of pesticide CEUs, veterinarian CECs and BQA credits are available to attendees Additionally, over 125 agriculture related businesses and trade show exhibitors annually attend the course and attest to the fact that it is the most highly attended activity of its kind anywhere in the United States. Annually over 1400 participants attend the Beef Cattle Short Course to gain valuable knowledge about beef cattle production.

DATES:  The 60th Annual Beef Cattle Short Course begins at 8:00 am on Monday, August 4th, and ends at noon on Wednesday, August 6th. 

LOCATION:  Registration check-in will be on the 1st floor of Rudder Tower on Joe Routt Boulevard. Registration will begin at 6:00 am with the first general session at 8:00am on Monday, August 4th.  You may pick up your badge and materials early on Sunday, August 3rd, between 1-5pm. if you wish to do so.

REGISTRATION FEE:  The Short Course fee of $180 per person includes the following: 3 daily breakfasts, Monday and Tuesday lunch, 1 Prime Rib Dinner Monday, 1 proceedings, trade show admittance, refreshments and access to campus shuttle service.  There is no need to purchase additional tickets for any of those events since they are included with your registration.  The Short Course fee will be $220 after August 1st and for onsite registration.

PARKING PERMITS:  The three day parking pass for Lot 61 (MSC), Lot 74 (Rosenthal), Lot 36 (Veterinary School), and Lot 63 (Pearce Pavilion) can be purchased for a flat event rate of $12 athttps://transport.tamu.edu/Account/Conference/parkingpermits.aspx

Or across the street from the MSC parking is available in the University Center Parking Garage for $15 per day.

*Please note that when completing the online registration you will be asked to enter an email address.  Please put the e-mail address of the person attending the conference.  In order to complete the registration you will be asked to enter a password of your choice and confirm.  There are no special parameters for creating the password.  When your registration is complete, you will be directed to check out and pay with a credit card.  Once the payment is accepted, you will receive a confirmation receipt.  Please print this confirmation for your records.
